Luton Borough Council voted to withdraw its support for development in the east of Luton ... “In its current form”

This has to go to the Executive Committee of Luton Council and then the Joint Planning Committee has to be informed of the change of response.

2nd November 2009

Bloor Homes, one of the original consortium that was proposing to build those 5,500 homes east of Luton, has been seeking support from Peter Lilley - the MP for the Herts. Area affected - for building  “up to 1000 homes” near Cockernhoe and Mangrove Green.  Needless to say Bloor Homes are saying that this is hugely better as it’s a big reduction compared with the 5,500 houses plan from before!

Peter Lilley is not giving his support and Herts County Council and North Herts. District Council are solidly against this new proposal, just as they opposed the original plans.

A good example of why despite the Luton Borough Council apparent change of heart we cannot afford to be complacent.
